Unreal Engine 4 project based on old Venice. This project took me approximately 4 weeks to complete and it is a completely modular scene, with a big focus on outdoor lighting. I started by laying down BSPs in Unreal to get a sense of the scale. I then made the modular pieces in Maya, focusing on maintaining texel density, and clean UVs for easy vertex painting. The tiling textures were made using Substance 3D Designer, where I tried to maintain correct PBR values, and a generic enough level of detail to prevent visible tiling. The lighting was done early in the process to get a good sense of the mood of the scene. I made a master material that works for both dielectric and metallic surfaces, a master material for water, one for the windows, and finally one for the emissive meshes. There are some crack, manhole, and vent decals that I took from Quixel Megascans
